Any member with a free Saturday or Sunday who is looking for a good location will enjoy the parachute club in Clonbologue.

As you can see from the photographs below you can get fairly close to the action – these photos were taken with a 70 / 300mm lens.  It’s only 10 miles from Portarlington and jumps take place every 20 mins or so it’s a great chance to get some colourful shots.

The winner of the March 2009 photo of the month competition was Jason Maher.  The subject was Night Shots.  The winning photograph is of the headquarters of Ulster Bank in Dublin, with the River Liffey in the foreground.

March Picture of the Month

Is anyone interested in meeting next Sunday (26th April) to get some picures of bluebells in Mooreabbey Wood, Monasterevin?

This is a great spot for these flowers.  Early morning rise – meet at 6.15am in the carpark on the Athy road.

Those interested contact Paul Whiteley @ 087-9064000.

Because of the way the light changes you wont be out for more than an hour or two. Bring a tripod, a wide angle and macro lens if you have them, and a polarising filter would be of benefit.

Those wanting to come along without a camera are also welcome.  This is all weather permitting of course – we dont want to be out in the rain, although these pictures can look good too.

Don’t forget that you may get your picture here for next month’s picture of the month competition

Next Sunday (26th April) at the Curragh Racecoure there is a classic & vintage car show.

It will be a good oppurtunty to get a few retro type shots. It starts at 12pm.

These cars are gonna be shiny and polished up to the last so you may need to consider a polariser.  You may find that some of the exhibitors will be in period costume too so happy snapping!

Admission is €5

PS: Don’t forget to post some of your pictures here afterwards!

For those shooting in digital and wishing to get black and white prints comparable to a darkroom print, checkout www.ilfordlab.com – they will take care of it for you.
