March 2009 competition winner

The winner of the March 2009 photo of the month competition was Jason Maher.  The subject was Night Shots.  The winning photograph is of the headquarters of Ulster Bank in Dublin, with the River Liffey in the foreground.

National Club Championships

The venue for the national club championships has been anounced.  They are to be held in the University of Limerick CSIS rooms on April 24th and 25th.

IPF Nature Finals

If anyone is going to the IPF Nature Finals on Sunday March 22nd, note there’s a free admission voucher for the zoo that can be downloaded from the Irish Photographic Federation website.

March 2009 photo of the month

For members not at the last meeting this month’s theme for photo of the month is “Night shots”.

Any photo for judging should be in on the night of Wednesday, 25th of March.  There is a small monthly prize for the winner and the winning photo along with the other 11 monthly winners will be judged at the end of the year for photo of the year.

The prizes for this have been set at 100 euro for 1st prize 60 euro 2nd prize and 40 euro for 3rd prize .

February 2009 competition winner

The winner of the February 2009 photo of the month was me – Con Murphy.  The subject was Macro.  I took this photo one day when the sky was grey and with nothing else to photograph.

It was dark so I shot this at ISO 640,  f5.6 at 1/85th of a second with a 70/300 lens.  The only thing i did in photoshop was to sharpen slightly.

January 2009 competition winner

The winner of the monthly competition for January 2009 was me – Sachin Polassery.  The subject was Winter.  This was the winning photograph.

Competition of the month – February

The theme is Macro.  Theme’s for the full year can be seen here.

This is an internal competition among members.  Last month’s winner was Sachin Sivanand, joint second were Con Murphy and Paul Lalor, and third was Dom Reddin.  Last month’s topic was Winter.
